The Happiness Institute: Make the Most of your Life Workshops

Fancy a change from the project management, resilience thinking, and workplace effectiveness training?  I thoroughly recommend these one day workshops with The Happiness Institute.  I benefited enormously from the course I did with Dr Tim Sharp to get my Executive Certificate in Positive Psychology, and these one day workshops are a great introduction to the theories, techniques and approaches we can all use to increase our life satisfaction and enjoyment.

Melbourne and Sydney workshops are sold out, however, in May there are some spaces for the Perth workshops, and then there are spots free in the June-July events running in Canberra, Newcastle, Brisbane and Adelaide.  I am going to the Canberra workshop to get a refresher ….  Register now.

Who wants to be a better presenter? Eliminate Death by Powerpoint

Gabrielle and Yamini who are the powerhouse behind  ‘one thousand and one‘ the organisational storytelling experts have just released a new free downloadable ebook  titled Eliminate Death by PowerPoint They have done so because:

In the work we do with leaders around storytelling they often ask for tips and techniques to be better presenters.  This combined with our professional goal to eliminate death by PowerPoint was the catalyst in writing this book.

Survey after survey shows that people fear public speaking over death.  More people would prefer to be the person in the coffin than the person delivering the eulogy.  That is very sad …because with preparation and practice everyone can get better at presenting …and the better you get at it the less you will fear it.

In the book we have pulled together over 20 years presentation experience.  Now there are countless books out there on presenting and this is not a summary of that information.  This book is about what we believe works and what we have seen work.   The focus of the book is on the content, helping you determine what you say and how you present it.

I have downloaded the ebook and it is excellent, with many great suggestions and ideas you can put into practice.  You can also subscribe to the ‘one thousand and one’  blogs which are also terrific.  Let me know how you get on.

Hi everyone and welcome to the New Year.

The Australian Government is providing support to Greening Australia to facilitate biodiversity restoration workshops across the country.  These workshops will focus on  establishing biodiverse plantings throughout the landscape, as well as providing communities with the most up to date methods for reintroducing and managing biodiversity.

Importantly, the workshops will help maximise the outcomes of existing and new natural resource management and environmental programs such as the Clean Energy Future’s Biodiversity Fund.  For more information about workshop content, dates and locations click here.

Congratulations to Peter Cullen Trust 2011 Fellows

On Friday the 4th of November I had the great pleasure of attending the graduation  ceremony for this year’s Peter Cullen Trust Fellows.  It was a very enjoyable evening, with the Fellows providing a lively, entertaining and thought-provoking presentation about the issues surrounding the development of Australia’s coal seam gas industry.  I was delighted to be part of such a wonderful group of motivated, enthusiastic and clever people, all of whom are passionate about a sustainable future not only for Australia, but also for our planet.

Many congratulations to all this years graduates!

To learn more about the Peter Cullen Trust visit the website….. maybe 2012 is the year that you apply to be a part of this terrific program.
